Douglas went on to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Western Michigan University. He has published over 130 professional journal articles, 42 book chapters, and authored or co-authored 9 books in CBIT (Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics).
He has also given close to 200 national and international presentations and is considered “one of the leading experts in CBIT” (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). CBIT is a type of behavioral therapy that was developed for people with tics instead of using medication.
Douglas received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Western Michigan University Psychology Department in 2008 and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Self-Help Book of Merit Award in 2010.
