Douglas A. Balster

In recognition for Leadership and Achievement
After receiving two doctorate degrees from The Ohio State University (Medicine and Cell Pathobiology), Douglas became a board certified Pediatrician. From there he published 22 articles in medical literature. He advanced the understanding of cell and molecular processes of neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer.
Douglas was the founder and chief medical information officer of eMed, which produced innovative software to allow physicians to communicate health care from the primary care physician to the specialist, and to the patient. He served as Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente of Redwood City, California.
He also received an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, following that he advanced the design of Pacemakers as an Electrical and Biomedical Engineer. He is a member of the Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
